Zalaegerszeg nightmare: asbestos invasion! ☠️

Contamination spread from a construction site where asbestos panels were damaged. Authorities are closing four streets and a large car park downtown to stop dangerous particles spreading. Inhaled asbestos is carcinogenic; residents are warned to avoid the area and not sweep dust.

For Balaton travellers this is a double blow: the Zalaegerszeg section of road 7 may be affected, causing jams towards Keszthely and Hévíz. Tourism also suffers as many reach beaches by car and use Zalaegerszeg as a shopping hub. Locals fear wind-borne pollution reaching Balaton airspace.
