Veszprém: Art builds a social bridge with three institutions 🎨

BalatonLife

A new cultural initiative starting in Veszprém, the northern gate of Lake Balaton, enriches the community life of the lakeside region: the House of Arts enters into a long-term cooperation with three local social and educational institutions. 🎨 This step does not only affect the residents of Veszprém, but also strengthens the inclusive tourism of the Balaton highlands, as art programs can make the city more attractive for lakeside vacationers.

Partners in the partnership include the Maltese Charity Service - Reception House, the Kozmutza Flóra Kindergarten and Primary School, and the VKTT Elderly Home and Care Home. The goal is art-based development: children, families and the elderly alike can benefit from creative programs that support social integration and mental well-being. This is how the stages, galleries and workshops of the House of Arts become accessible to disadvantaged groups, with regular workshops and performances.

This is extremely important for the Balaton region: Veszprém, as the successor to the legacy of the European Capital of Culture (EKF 2023), is now strengthening community cohesion, which makes its impact felt during the Balaton season in summer. It brings the locals - be they residents of Balatonfüred, Csopak or Veszprém - closer to the culture, while it offers an authentic, local experience for vacationers. For example, works created with the participation of the residents of the nursing home can be presented at exhibitions, which can attract lakeside families to Veszprém as a family-friendly program, stimulating tourism in the region. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Thus, the initiative contributes to the sustainable, people-oriented development of Lake Balaton.
