Wildlife collision shocks Balaton route 82! 🦌🚗
A serious wildlife collision on route 82, a vital approach to the Balaton's northern shore, immediately complicated travel for holidaymakers and locals in Veszprémvarsány's outer area. Between km 37 and 38 a car hit an animal, causing significant tailbacks for those heading to lakeside towns such as Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi. 🚗🦌
The crash occurred Thursday afternoon when the vehicle struck wildlife. Professional firefighters from Pannonhalma arrived quickly and de-energised the wreck to prevent further risk. Ambulance crews also attended to treat any injuries – fortunately no serious injuries were reported.
Traffic now runs alternating, single lane on the affected section, especially oppressive mid-Balaton season. Route 82 links arrivals from the Bakony to lakeside beaches and campsites, so jams may last hours, increasing driver fatigue. Locals say wildlife collisions are common due to nearby woodland – a warning for holidaymakers to drive carefully at dusk. Balaton Uplands traffic is even less predictable now as tourists seek detours bypassing Veszprém.
