Who is Robbing Balaton's Nutrients? ANYPE Reveals 🌊
The water quality of Balaton and the health of the surrounding agricultural areas have long concerned locals. That is why the lecture organized by ANYPE, exploring the fate of nutrients and the phenomenon of “theft” from the lakeside community’s perspective, is particularly timely.
Dr. Csicsor János chemical engineer and researcher’s lecture titled “The Great Nutrient Theft” begins on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 4 PM at the Eötvös Károly Cultural House. All interested visitors are warmly welcome who wish to learn how the nutrient cycle affects the Balaton ecosystem and local production.
The balance of soils and waters in the Balaton basin is a sensitive system. During the lecture the researcher will present the processes leading to nutrient loss and the consequences for lakeside orchards, vineyards and fish stocks. For locals these questions are not theoretical: good water quality and sustainable farming directly influence tourism and livelihoods.
ANYPE’s initiative offers an excellent opportunity for members of the Balaton community to think together about the future. After the lecture there will also be a chance to ask questions, so participants can receive personalized answers regarding their own garden or business.
🌱 It is worth arriving early, as interest in the topic is traditionally high in the region. For those living around Balaton this event promises not only knowledge but also a community experience.
