In Vonyarcvashegy, tribute paid to the Arad heroes in a surprising location 🌊
The community of Vonyarcvashegy, located on the shores of Lake Balaton, actively preserves the memories of Hungarian history every year, and this time too commemorates the Arad martyrs in a solemn setting. The Cultural House and Library of the lakeside settlement hosts the commemoration, where locals recall the heroes of the freedom fight together, thereby strengthening local identity and community cohesion.
On Tuesday, 6 October 2026, at 5 p.m. the wreath-laying commemoration will take place at the Vonyarcvashegy Cultural House and Library. The central element of the programme is the ceremonial speech by Mayor Róbert Pali, which pays fitting tribute to the historical figures. The event is enriched by performances from 6th-grade students of the Vonyarcvashegy Eötvös Károly Primary School and the Vonyarcvashegy Chamber Choir, involving the younger generation in the remembrance.
This local event provides an excellent opportunity for residents around Lake Balaton to reflect together on the lessons of the past, while the lakeside tranquillity and community spirit help create a dignified celebration. 🕊️ The organisers warmly welcome everyone to remember the great figures of Hungarian history together and to strengthen the cultural life of the region.
