Dogs Flying in the Sky Above Balaton: Hunor's Exercise 🚁

BalatonLife

From the perspective of the safety of the Balaton region, it is particularly important that rescue units routinely use special transport vehicles, such as helicopters. That is why a practice was held at Siófok-Kiliti Airport on September 22 and 23, which directly serves the preparedness around the lake.

The HUNOR rescue organization's search dog unit participated in the joint flight exercise with fourteen dog handlers and their four-legged companions. In cooperation with the Készenléti Rendőrség Légi Rendészeti szolgálata, the goal was for the dogs and their handlers to get used to the helicopter's unique environment, noise, and movement. The patient approach of the police officers greatly helped in gaining routine.

This type of preparation can be particularly useful at Balaton, as in the event of a flood or other natural event, rapid helicopter deployment may be needed in coastal or island areas. Knowledge of special vehicles increases efficiency when people or valuables need to be rescued in minutes.

After the two-day program, the Hunor unit is even better prepared for local search and rescue tasks. This type of cooperation also strengthens the safety of the Balaton region in the long term, where rapid response capability receives special attention due to tourism and natural features 🚁🐕.
