Balaton Sensation: What Does the Fresh Press Release Hide? 🌊

Sailing has always played a central role in the life of the settlements along Lake Balaton, which is not only a sport but an integral part of the local identity. Balatonalmádi is also strengthening this tradition by incorporating sailing into the physical education curriculum at the Györgyi Dénes Primary School starting from this school year.

The institution’s fifth-grade students can learn the basics of sailing through the Vitorlázó Gyermekekért Egyesület’s 2026 Vitorlás Suli Program. Thanks to the initiative, students will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also collect practical experience on the waters of Lake Balaton ⛵.

This step is of particular significance for Balatonalmádi, as the school’s former student, world champion sailor Jonatán Vadnai, also started from here on his path to international success. The program thus strengthens not only the love of movement but also identification with local role models among young people.

From the perspective of the Balaton community, this development is valuable in the long term: it popularizes sailing among young people and contributes to the next generations actively preserving the sports culture connected to the lake. The sessions held within the school framework open the door to the world of Lake Balaton in a safe and organized way.
