What's happening in Balatonföldvár? V4 disaster chiefs at Lake Balaton 🛡️

BalatonLife

On Lake Balaton's southern shore in picturesque Balatonföldvár, V4 countries' disaster management directors held a two-day meeting. The Jogar Conference and Training Centre again proved the lakeside town is well suited for high-level international events.

Under the Visegrád Group rotating presidency, Hungary's National Directorate General for Disaster Management organised the consultation on 18–19 May. Participants included Polish Brigadier General Wojciech Kruczek, who discussed with colleagues strengthening regional cooperation, joint exercises and effective handling of cross-border emergencies.

This dialogue is especially important for the Balaton region. In summer the risk of storms, floods or forest fires increases, and tourist safety can only be guaranteed through close international coordination. The meeting should lead to faster information exchange and coordinated response on lakeside communities.

For Balatonföldvár it also means prestige that the region is again in the spotlight. Locals proudly welcomed foreign delegations and hope such events boost local tourism long term 🌊🚒.
