Devastation of flames: the roof of a family house in Mezőszentgyörgyi! 🔥
The roof structure of a family house burned down in Mezőszentgyörgy, near the southern shore of Lake Balaton, on Sunday evening, which is a warning sign for the residents and vacationers of the region about the danger of summer fires. With the quick intervention of the professional firefighters of Siófok and the municipal firefighters of Polgárd, it was possible to prevent the further spread of the fire, so the villages on the shores of Balaton, such as Siófok or Balatonszárszó, remained free from smoke and further risk. 🔥
The entire roof structure of the property in Eötvös Street was on fire when the firefighters arrived on the scene. The flames were extinguished with four water jets, while a gas cylinder was also safely removed from the building, avoiding the risk of explosion. No one was injured during the intervention, but the residents of the house temporarily left their home.
This case particularly sensitively affects the communities around Lake Balaton, where holiday homes and family houses with traditional wooden roofs are common. Right in the middle of the holiday season, when coastal settlements are crowded, fire safety is extremely important: barbecues, chimney fires or electrical breakdowns can quickly turn into drama. This is a reminder for locals to regularly check their cylinders and roof structures, while the Siófok fire station plays a key role in protecting the region. 🏠
The life of Lake Balaton was not directly threatened by the fire, but it highlights the vulnerability of the region, where the risk is increased due to tourism. We recommend prevention to the population!
