Chain collision shakes the Balaton on road 71! 🚗

An accident near Balatongyörök on the northern shore again shows how vulnerable lakeside traffic is in summer. Four cars collided on main road 71 between kilometres 93 and 94, immediately disrupting travel between Balaton towns.

Keszthely professional firefighters de-energised the damaged vehicles. Fortunately no one was injured, but traffic runs on one lane with alternating direction. The section is busy in the western basin, linking Keszthely with Gyenesdiás, Vonyarc and more distant northern resorts.

Resulting jams mainly hit locals and holidaymakers heading to beaches or programmes. Many were late for water sports or sunset walks 🌊. Similar cases show the 71 still needs greater safety focus in tourist season.
