Workshop fire in Keszthely

A fire broke out in a repair workshop in Keszthely, the most important tourist centre of Lake Balaton's western basin. The incident on Külső Zsidi Road fortunately did not affect peak summer season, but shocked locals and nearby businesses.

Flames caught in part of the roughly sixty-square-metre industrial building. Workers began extinguishing immediately, so when Keszthely and Páka professional firefighters arrived significant progress had already been made. Crews fully put out the fire then thoroughly ventilated the property. Importantly the fire did not spread to the neighbouring carpentry workshop, so only one of two local businesses suffered damage.

Külső Zsidi Road lies in Keszthely's industrial-commercial zone, relatively close to the lakeside resort area and historic centre. In main summer season locals are especially sensitive to any extraordinary event. Though the fire was relatively small and no personal injuries were reported, Balaton businesses again focus on fire protection and rapid response.

Keszthely firefighters prove preparedness daily – around the lake unexpected events happen not only on beaches and piers but in industrial areas too. Quick intervention again showed Balaton-shore protection covers everyday fire safety as well.

Order has been restored on site after ventilation. Hopefully the damaged workshop reopens soon and summer Balaton continues offering calm and safety to guests and residents alike. 🔥🚒
