Truck chaos on Balaton 760! 🚛

BalatonLife

Several trucks are stuck on highway 760 leading to the northern highlands of Balaton near Felsőpáh, which is causing a serious disruption in traffic in the towns of Keszthely and Balaton. 🚛 The Keszthely firefighters are on site, the police are in control of the vehicles, so vacationers and locals are also affected in the middle of the Balaton season.

The series of accidents happened at the 5th kilometer of road 760: heavy trucks have a hard time navigating the upland roads, especially in rainy weather. While towing one of the trucks, the towing eye broke off, so it was lost in the outer lane, making progress even more difficult. The professional firefighters from Keszthely are constantly carrying out rescues, but the traffic is still heavy.

The local impact is significant: residents of Keszthely, the "capital" of Lake Balaton, and surrounding settlements such as Vonyarcvashegy or Gyenesdiás find it difficult to get to the lake shore or the Hévíz thermal baths. 🛣️ For tourists, this means delays for beach trips and excursions, while every minute counts at the peak of the Balaton season. We recommend alternative routes, such as the Highway 71 bypass, to avoid traffic jams.

The rescue is in progress, the authorities ask for the patience of the locals. Follow balatonlife.hu for the latest news!
