Google Street View cars cruise by Lake Balaton! 🚗
Good news for vacationers and locals on the Lake Balaton: from the second half of March, Google Street View camera cars will appear in Siófok and Keszthely, updating the 360-degree images of the streets around the lake. 🚗 This is especially timely before the summer season, when maps become more accurate on both the south and north coasts.
According to Google's official announcement, the cars will cruise in several cities in addition to Budapest, including Veszprém, Zalaegerszeg, Nagykanizsa - all places that are key in the Balaton region. In Siófok, the capital of the party, the coastal promenades and restaurants are captured, and in Keszthely the streets surrounding the Festetics castle. The recordings last for weeks, but after processing, anyone can view them on Google Maps.
What does this mean for life in Balaton? Local entrepreneurs have a huge advantage: fresh pictures attract virtual visitors, increasing bookings at beaches and ports. Vacationers can navigate the winding roads of Balaton more easily, they can "walk" ahead on their favorite stretches of coast. And it's practical for the locals: more precise routes to the market and to the doctor. Of course, due to data protection, Google automatically smiles faces and license plates, but if someone is careful, cover the camera with a sign.
The timing of the update is perfect for the tourism boost - imagine how it will promote the lakeside idyll worldwide! 📸 This way Lake Balaton becomes even more attractive even on spring weekends.
