Dramatic accident at the gate of Balaton! 🚨

For vacationers and locals visiting the northern shore of Lake Balaton, an accident occurred on highway 8, which is crucial near Várpalota, on the border of the counties of Fejér and Veszprém. This section of road is crowded on a daily basis due to the traffic towards the lake, especially during the beach season, so an accident can cause congestion in the direction of Balatonfüred, Csopak or Veszprém 🚗⚠️.

According to the details, a passenger car hit a barrier and then stopped in a grassy area next to the road. The professional firefighters of Székesfehérvár quickly moved to the scene, where they de-energized the vehicle, preventing further risks. An ambulance was also called for the driver, who may have been injured - fortunately, there were no reports of a serious condition.

The accident caused a huge uproar in the region: for the settlements on the Lake Balaton, such as Balatonalmádi or Füred, this road is the fastest connection from Budapest and Székesfehérvár. Congestion can delay the arrival of vacationers, adding to the strain on lakeside roads. According to locals, such incidents are common in the summer due to heavy traffic - it's worth taking a detour via Route 71 or Route 73 if possible.
