Drama at Lake Balaton: car in ditch on route 71 🚗

On the northern shore of Lake Balaton, between Zánka and Balatonakali on main road 71, a car ended up in a ditch, immediately disrupting traffic between lakeside towns. At kilometre 56 the accident complicates daily commuting for locals and holidaymakers who often use this route towards Badacsony, Tihany or Keszthely.

Badacsonytomaj professional firefighters were alerted and quickly de-energised the vehicle to avoid further danger. Ambulance services also arrived to treat any injuries. Traffic currently runs on one lane on the affected section, which can cause congestion during morning and afternoon peak hours around the lake.

This accident again highlights the importance of safe driving on coastal main roads, where summer traffic increases with swimmers and day trippers. For locals such events are a daily nuisance on routes to work or nearby towns.
