At Balaton, in a legendary pub: Bödőcs saves Zala politics! 🍻
In the heart of the western shore of Lake Balaton, in the electoral district centered on Keszthely, the political atmosphere is boiling, where the central taking of money from local governments directly threatens the tourism and everyday life of the lakeside settlements. 🗳️ The reporters of 444.hu tried to decipher Zala politics in front of the "most famous pub in the country" in Keszthely, and in the end they asked the help of comedian Tibor Bödőcs to get the candidate of the Tisza Party to speak.
In the Keszthely district - which includes the pearls of the Lake Balaton, such as Hévíz, Cserszegtomaj or Vonyarcvashegy - the mayors watch helplessly as the government withdraws municipal resources. The example of a local leader shows: developments are left unfinished, road renovations are not completed, which endangers Balaton traffic and beach maintenance in the summer. "What are we going to do without money if the lakeside roads need to be fixed before the season?" - ask the locals.
The candidate of the Tisza Party was blocked by the party headquarters, so he could not be reached, which further deepens the uncertainty. Tibor Bödőcs, a comedian from Zala who knows the mood of the region well, finally helped: in the conversation in front of the pub, it became clear that the voters' frustration is about the quality of life in Balaton. Less money from the local government means fewer festivals and worse public lighting on the coast, which can also discourage vacationers. 🌊
In the Keszthely district, this is not just politics: this section accounts for 20-30% of Balaton's tourism, where local decisions are essential for the maintenance of beaches, harbors and promenades. If the mayors do not receive support, next season they may receive guests on broken roads and neglected beaches, which will affect the region's economy in the long term.
