Balaton shock: Head-on crash on the 74! 🚨

A serious head-on collision occurred on the 74 main road, which is the southern gate of Lake Balaton, which significantly complicates the traffic of vacationers and locals going to the lakeside settlements, such as Balatonszentgyörgy and Fonyód. 🚨 On the section between Hahót and Zalaszentbalázs, at kilometer 21, two passenger cars collided head-on, in both of which only the driver was traveling.

The volunteer firefighters from Gelse were the first to arrive at the accident, followed by the members of the professional unit from Pacsa. The volunteers immediately de-energized the wreckage, and together with the ambulance service, they pulled out an injured person from one of the vehicles. A complete road closure came into effect at the site, which paralyzed traffic in the southern region of Lake Balaton for hours. ⚠️

This section is crucial for guests coming to Lake Balaton, as it is connected to highway 7 and ensures quick access to the southern shore. In the middle of the summer season, traffic jams can further worsen the availability of beaches, marinas and programs, increasing tensions among tourists and local carriers. Residents of Zala settlements are also affected, who rely on this road during their daily commute. According to the authorities, the cause of the accident is being investigated by the police, and the condition of the injured is stable.
